Hypnosis Explained
Hypnotherapy is a powerfully effective method to help people overcome all manner of mind and body related issues. One of the main reasons for its success over the past two thousand years is that unlike other forms of therapy such as counselling and psychotherapy, hypnotherapy works directly with the subconscious part of our mind. The advantage of working directly with the subconscious is that it can help over come long term issues more profoundly and in far fewer sessions. Hypnotherapy needs no form of physical touch or medication.
Our subconscious records everything we ever do via our five senses of touch, taste, sight, sound and smell. Through these senses the subconscious stores all our BELIEFS, EMOTIONS, IMAGINATION and HABITS. When you realise that we live our daily lives governed by our subconscious mind you can begin to realise how powerful it truly is. As a professional hypnotherapist i work directly with your subconscious to change limiting beliefs, negative emotions and stop unwanted habits.
You may now begin to realise just how powerful our subconscious really is. Unfortunately this powerful part of our mind does not act in a reasonable or logical way. It sees everything in black or white, it either is or is not. The only thing it is ever concerned with is keeping us safe from what it ‘perceives’ as a threat to our very survival. It is this illogical way of thinking that causes so many of us ‘ symptoms’.
A symptom is a behaviour pattern that is not appropriate to a current situation.
We can all relate to feelings of nausea, sweating, dry mouth, doubt, anger, dizziness, anxiety and so on in some situation in our lives. Often it is in direct response to sitting exams, a first date, public speaking, being in closed or open spaces, driving, eating in public places, smoking, the list really is endless. You can find a page on the website listing dozens of known phobias.
These examples all have one thing in common…. They are a behaviour not appropriate to the situation we are currently in. The subconscious, which we know thinks illogically, perceives those events as a threat to our survival. It will use those symptoms as a way to deter us from those events in the future however ordinary in nature these tasks are consciously to us.
Many of us try ‘will power’ that conscious part of our brain to overcome our symptoms but it is no match for the subconscious which altogether controls behaviours, beliefs and habits. As a Clinical Hypnotherapist I use hypnosis to help change the ‘illogical’ subconscious part of your mind to so that the things you want to do, the way you want to feel and behave are all perfectly natural and ordinary. In just several sessions any fears, doubts, unwanted habits or behaviours can be diminished…for good. This means you can start to feel happier, calmer, and more confident to live a more empowered life.
